Southwest PRASM up 2% in January

Southwest Airlines has reported an about 2% increase in passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) in January compared with a year earlier.

Passenger traffic declined 1.7% during the month while capacity grew 0.5%, resulting in a 1.6 percentage point decrease in load factor to 72.7%.

Southwest's revenue passenger numbers fell 3.8% to 7.68 million passengers during the month.
