Southwest Airlines is preparing to open crew bases in Denver later this year.

A pilot crew base is opening in October followed by a flight attendant base later in the fourth quarter, the carrier said.

Southwest's new crew domicile at the Denver International airport will accommodate 250 pilots and 400 flight attendants. Other crew domiciles in the carrier's network include Baltimore/Washington, Chicago Midway, Dallas, Houston, Phoenix, Oakland, Orlando and Las Vegas.

Southwest launched service from Denver in 2006 with 13 daily nonstops and now operates 159 daily nonstop flights to 51 destinations.
