Southwest unit revenues down by 2%-3% in September

Southwest Airlines and its subsidiary AirTran Airways have reported a decrease of 2%-3% in passenger revenue per available seat mile in September.

Revenue passenger miles decreased by 2.1% year-over-year, while capacity declined by 1%, says Southwest. This resulted in a 0.8 percentage point decrease in the load factor to 77%.

Passenger numbers fell by 2.1% to 8.36 million.
