Southwest unit revenues up 2%-3% in August

Southwest Airlines and its subsidiary AirTran Airways have reported a growth of 2%-3% in passenger unit revenues in August.

Traffic grew 0.1% year-on-year, while capacity fell 1.8%, says Southwest. This resulted in a 1.6 percentage point increase in the load factor to 84.2%.

Passenger numbers grew 2% to 9.74 million.
