Southwest unit revenues up 2% in July

Southwest Airlines and its subsidiary AirTran Airways have reported a growth of 2% in passenger unit revenues as traffic remained flat in July.

Revenue passenger miles remained flat year-on-year, while capacity grew 0.6%, says Southwest. This resulted in a 0.5 percentage point decline in load factors to 84.6%.

Passenger numbers grew 1% compared with the corresponding month last year to 10.2 million.
