Spirit Airlines will begin service between Minneapolis-St. Paul International and Detroit Metropolitan airports in May, its third new seasonal route from the Minnesota airport in 2014.

The once daily flight will operate from 22 May to 1 November on an Airbus A320 family aircraft.

It joins new seasonal nonstops from Minneapolis-St. Paul to Baltimore/Washington and Houston Intercontinental airports that Miramar, Florida-based Spirit announced in January.

Delta Air Lines, which has hubs at both airports, is the only carrier on the route, Innovata schedules show.
