Spirit Airlines will open crew bases at Dallas-Fort Worth airport (DFW) on 1 December, less than two years since it began service to the city.
The Miramar, Florida-based ultra low-cost carrier says that it will station more than 250 employees in Dallas, including about 170 flight attendants and 80 pilots by the third quarter of 2013.
Spirit will also expand its maintenance base at the airport to employ more than 30 mechanics, it says.
"As Spirit continues to expand operations at DFW, we are very excited to also add quality local jobs and to open a new crew base here," says Tony Lefebvre, chief operating officer of Spirit, in a statement.
The airline flies to 17 cities from Dallas-Fort Worth and plans to add flights to nine more by June 2013. It began operations at the airport in May 2011.
Spirit has crew bases in Atlantic City, Detroit, Fort Lauderdale and Las Vegas.
