Low-cost carrier Spirit Airlines will launch seasonal service to new destinations from Fort Myers and Minneapolis-St Paul, as well as new non-stop service between Tampa and Chicago O'Hare.

The airline will begin daily seasonal service between Fort Myers and both Boston and Minneapolis-St Paul from 8 November to 24 April 2013.

Spirit announced it would begin seasonal service between Fort Myers and Dallas-Fort Worth as part of an expansion of its network from the airport in Texas yesterday.

It also said that it will launch four-times weekly service between Dallas and Minneapolis from 25 April 2013, and daily service on the route from 13 June 2013 yesterday.

Minneapolis will be linked with Spirit's base at Fort Lauderdale with a new daily non-stop seasonal service from 8 November to 24 April 2013, says Spirit today.

In addition, the airline will begin non-stop daily seasonal service between Tampa and O'Hare from 8 November to 24 April 2013.

Spirit will not be the only carrier operating on the four new routes that it announced today. It will compete against JetBlue Airways between Fort Myers and Boston, Delta Air Lines and Sun Country Airlines between Fort Myers and Minneapolis, Delta between Minneapolis and Fort Lauderdale, and American Airlines and United Airlines between Tampa and O'Hare. US Airways also offers one-stop service between Tampa and O'Hare.
