ST Aerospace has won a contract from Spring Airlines Japan to provide MRO services for its fleet of 22 Boeing 737-800s.
Under the 'maintenance by the hour' (MBH) agreement, ST Aero will provide support for component repairs, warranty management, and consignment and pool access to its global rotables inventory pool for the 737s.
ST Aero says the contract will commence in the second half of 2013 and run for eight years.
It adds that it has a similar MBH contract with Spring Airlines in China, covering its fleet of 78 Airbus A320s.
Spring Airlines Japan is a low-cost carrier based at Tokyo's Narita airport which plans to commence operations later this year. It is a joint venture between Spring and local Japanese investors.
Separately, ST Aero has become an official member of UTC Aerospace Systems' Boeing 787 MRO supplier network after it signed a new agreement with the electrical systems manufacturer. The agreement authorises ST Aero to conduct MRO work on the electrical and air management systems used on Boeing 787s.
