Singapore-based maintenance provider ST Aerospace plans to cut up to 300 jobs as it restructures its component repair shops in Scandinavia.

The MRO group employs approximately 800 staff members at its European component support business. This covers three repair shops at airports in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm, as well as a warehouse facility at Stansted airport in the UK.

ST Aerospace wants to reduce the headcount at the three repair shops to "streamline the utilisation and workflow". Approximately 300 jobs "could be affected", the maintenance provider says.

Improving the cost structure and work processes was necessary due to the "challenging aviation landscape in Europe with weak domestic travel and regional cargo demand", the company adds.

ST Aerospace took over the repair shops from Scandinavian airline group SAS in 2006.
