Two members that recently joined the Star Alliance, Continental and Brazil's TAM, plan to launch codesharing between Brazil and the USA on 1 July.
The new codeshare partnership follows an agreement between the two carriers covering frequent flyer programme reciprocation finalised on 6 April.
Flights covered under the new codeshare are TAM's flights from Sao Paulo to Orlando, New York and Miami, its flights from Rio de Janeiro to New York and Miami and service from Manaus to Miami.
Continental's flights that are part of the codesharing agreement include Cleveland to Orlando and Miami, Houston to Orlando and Miami and Houston to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
The codeshare also includes a number of flights in TAM's domestic network.
From Sao Paulo, Continental will place its code on TAM's flights to Curitiba, Porto Alegre, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Florianopolis, Foz do Iguaçu, Campo Grande and Brasilia.
TAM's domestic markets from Rio de Janiero included in the codeshare are Vitoria, Recife, Belo Horizonte and Salvador.
