Uruguay's startup carrier BQB Air has launched its first international route connecting the Uruguayan resort town of Punta del Este with Porto Alegre in Southern Brazil.
This is BQB's third route after the carrier in late May inaugurated two domestic routes from Montevideo to Salto and Rivera, respectively.
A company source confirms that BQB will launch two additional routes to Brazil, starting in early July with the introduction of flights from Montevideo to Porto Alegre. The second flight debuts in September with the launch of two weekly flights from Montevideo to Florianopolis.
All flights are operated by ATR 72-500 turboprop aircraft.
Nothing is known yet about BQB's route authorities to Buenos Aires, which remain in a regulatory limbo with both the Uruguayan and the Argentinean authorities.
