Sukhoi's civil aircraft division is claiming 168 firm orders for the Superjet 100 by the end of 2011, of which five had been delivered.
The figure is listed in a document, newly published by the airframer, detailing the state of its activities by the end of the fourth quarter of last year.
Sukhoi has not given a breakdown of the customers included in the firm order backlog, but the first five aircraft were handed over to Armavia and Aeroflot.
"At the same time [the company] is actively working to attract new major customers," it stated in the document. While Sukhoi said the 168 orders are firm, it is unclear whether they include agreements previously listed as tentative.
European Aviation Safety Agency regulators awarded type certification to the PowerJet SaM146-powered twinjet earlier this month.
