Sun Country Airlines will add service from Dallas/Fort Worth to Branson, Missouri when the Ozark Mountain town's privately funded airport formally opens 11 May.
The carrier plans three weekly nonstop fights with Boeing 737-800s.
Sun Country, based in Minneapolis, will be the only carrier on the route under exclusive rights awarded by the airport.
The $155-million Branson airport takes no FAA funds,giving it the freedom to designate a carrier as the only airline to serve a given route. Sun Country also has the exclusive rights to link Branson and Minneapolis-St. Paul.
AirTran was the first carier to announce service from Branson, after receiving rights for flights to Atlanta and Milwaukee.
