Swissport in exclusive bid to take over Servisair

Ground handling provider Swissport has made an offer to acquire industry peer Servisair from France's Derichebourg group.

The Zurich-based company says that it has been granted exclusivity rights to finalise the deal within a certain period after it made an "irrevocable and binding offer" on 22 July.

Derichebourg - a Paris-based group specialised in municipal services such as waste collection and recycling - wants to sell the entire stock of wholly owned subsidiary Servisair.

With some 15,000 employees across 118 locations, Servisiar handles around 106 million passengers and 645,000t of cargo per annum year. Its 500 customers are spread across 20 countries and four continents.

Swissport handles approximately 118 million passengers and 3.5 million tonnes per annum. It has 40,000 staff across 180 stations in 38 countries.
