Swiss carrier Hello is introducing Airbus A320s to replace its Boeing MD-90 fleet, and has signed a maintenance agreement covering five A320 jets.

Hello is to start replacing the MD-90s in November and the MD-90s will be phased out with a 'farewell flight' on 30 January next year, coinciding with the World Economic Forum.

The carrier has received its first A320, registered HB-JIZ and previously in service with Philippine Airlines, in Manila.

As part of the switch the airline has agreed a component services pact with maintenance firm SR Technics which will cover five A320s and run to 2016.

SR Technics says the service package will include provision of a dedicated component consignment stock in Basle and access to SR Technics' component pool stocks on a flight-hour basis.

Hello's MD-90s are among a batch of the type being leased by SAS Group to a US carrier.
