Sydney airport has opened a 4500m² (48,400ft²) extension of Terminal 2, which is used for domestic and regional flights.
The extension provides an additional 28% capacity to the terminal and will allow more carriers to operate widebody aircraft from the terminal, says the airport.
It also provides a wider concourse along one of its piers, adds the airport.
"The [Terminal 2] extension is a great example of how we're supporting our airlines with the right infrastructure to meet their evolving needs," says chief executive Kerrie Mather.
Virgin Australia and Jetstar are the largest operators at the terminal, which also caters for regional carriers, including QantasLink and Regional Express.
