Sydney airport has reported a 2.7% year-on-year increase in overall passenger numbers to 2.94 million for June.

The airport's international passenger numbers grew by 3.6% to 1 million, while its domestic passenger numbers went up by 2.4% to 1.93 million.

Sydney airport chief executive Kerrie Mather says: "International passenger growth was again strong this month increasing 3.6% on the prior corresponding period. The British and Irish Lions rugby tour provided an increase in UK nationals visiting Sydney, while the Chinese markets once again performed well as a result of capacity increases."
