Sydney Airport throughput down 7.8% in February

Sydney Airport in Australia recorded declines in both domestic and international passenger throughput last month.

Major shareholder Macquarie Airports says in a statement that overall passenger throughput at Australia's largest airport fell 7.8% in February, to 2.46 million from 2.67 million.

Domestic passenger throughput fell 6.4% to 1.67 million and international throughput fell 9.7% to 787,000.

Macquarie Airports says Sydney airport and other airports in its portfolio "continued to be impacted by the airlines' reactions to the current economic downturn".
