Synergy Group kills off Taca brand

The Taca brand will cease to exist from June as its parent company Synergy Group unifies all the group airlines under the Avianca name.

Taca International, Taca Peru and Tampa Cargo will be rebranded in June, and Ecuador's AeroGal following suit in December.

According to Avianca chief operating officer Estuardo Ortiz the rebranding will not affect the structure and national traffic rights of the individual airlines.

"Every operator will continue to operate its route, but a passenger flying from Houston to Bogota via San Salvador will perceive a single brand experience," he says.

The only airline exempt from the move is Avianca Brazil, which, thanks to Brazilian rules on foreign ownership, is not wholly owned by Synergy.
