Tunisia's Syphax Airlines has firmed a deal to take three Airbus A320neo twinjets and three baseline A320s.
The aircraft will be powered by CFM International engines. CFM provides the CFM56 for the baseline A320 and is developing the Leap-1A for the A320neo.
Syphax, the first African carrier to order the Neo, says it intends to expand its network to Asia and North America through hubs in Tunis and Sfax, while continuing to grow its Tunisian, North African and European routes.
The airline already operates two A319 narrowbodies and three A320s, and will start flying a leased A330-200 widebody "shortly", says Airbus.
At 30 June, firm orders for the Neo stood at 2,245 from 40 customers, adds the manufacturer.
