Syphax Airlines' revenues reached 25.6 million Tunisian dinars ($15.6 million) in the quarter ending 30 June.

The figure, revealed in statement by the airline to the Tunis Stock Exchange, represents a surge in revenue from the corresponding period of 2012, when the total was just 3.2 million dinars.

It was in April 2012 that Syphax launched services. There followed its dispute with Tunisair. It accused the flag carrier's ground handling division of refusing to check in its passengers and luggage.

Syphax's revenue for the first half of 2013 reached 34.7 million dinars. Scheduled services in the second quarter accounted for 12 million dinars of the total, while charter activity contributed 13.6 million.

The airline's four Airbus A320 family aircraft accumulated some 2,400 flying hours during the quarter, equating to eight hours of utilisation per aircraft per day.
