Taiwan's China Airlines (CAL) and Delta Air Lines plan to expand their codeshare co-operation from 1 May.

CAL will place its code on Delta's Los Angeles-Guatemala City route. "CAL passengers can fly to Guatemala City, Atlanta, Cincinnati and other codeshare flights via Los Angeles, San Francisco or Anchorage," says the airline.

In return, Delta will place its code on CAL's flights between Taipei and Chiang Mai in Thailand and Penang in Malaysia, as well as on flights from Anchorage, Honolulu, Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco to Taipei, ays CAL.

"The expansion of the codeshare cooperation means that more CAL and Delta passengers travelling from the USA to Asia, or from Taiwan to the USA, can enjoy more efficient and seamless connections and services," says CAL.

The two carriers inked a codeshare agreement in 2003. Besides Delta, CAL also codeshares with Alitalia, Thai Airways International, Korean Air, Garuda Indonesia, Vietnam Airlines and Czech Airlines.
