Talks aimed at averting a cabin crew strike at British Airways have ended without an agreement, and industrial action is set to take place from tomorrow.

The airline had been in last-ditch negotiations to find a resolution to the dispute, which centres on new working practices introduced towards the end of last year.

British Airways chief Willie Walsh has described the situation as "regrettable", but states that the airline has put extensive contingency plans in place.

He says that there is "a proposal on the table" and has urged union leaders to consider their actions. Walsh reiterates that he believes the strike is "unjustified".
