SMBC Aviation Capital has extended the operating lease contract on behalf of a third party with TAP Portugal for an Airbus A320-200 aircraft.
According to Flightglobal’s Ascend Online database, TAP Portugal operates 17 A320s along with 19 A319s, three A321s, 12 A330s and four A340-300s.
TAP’s chief executive Fernando Pinto told Flightglobal last month that the carrier was looking at adding four ‘relatively new’ A320s to its fleet next year.
TAP will also lease two A330-200s from GECAS in 2014. Both aircraft, currently in operation with Brazil’s TAM Linhas Aereas will join TAP’s fleet in the first half of next year.
