Thai Airways International passenger traffic up 21% in December

Thai Airways International's passenger traffic as measured in RPKs increased by 21% year on year in December 2012.

Its capacity, as measured in ASKs, rose by 5.2% for the month, and total passenger numbers grew by 19% to 1.92 million.

The carrier's overall load factor grew by 10 percentage points year on year to 78%. Thai Smile recorded an overall load factor of 86%, with international and domestic load factors at 88% and at 85% respectively.

Cargo traffic, as measured in revenue freight tonne kilometres, increased by 1.2% against a 5.3% rise in capacity.

For 2012, passenger traffic grew by 9.8%, while capacity grew by 0.9%. The airline's load factor was at 77% - the highest level in five years.

The carrier's cargo load factor for the year fell by 3.3 percentage points year on year to 54%.
