Thai issues debentures worth Bt3 billion

Thai Airways International issued debentures worth baht (Bt) 3 billion ($99 million) through two tranches.

Under the placement, three million units are issued at Bt 1,000 per unit. The first tranche, which has one million units, has a 4.41% fixed rate per annum with a seven-year tenor to February 2019.

The second tranche, which has two million units, has a 4.75% fixed rate per annum with a 10-year tenor to February 2022.

Bank of Ayudhya is the underwriter of the issuance.

In April 2010, Thai's board approved the issuing of debentures worth up to Bt 40 billion within five years to refinance its debt.

The latest issuance brings its total debentures issued to Bt 13 billion under its five-year programme to 2015. The carrier issued Bt 2 billion debentures last December at a 4.30% per annum fixed coupon rate with a five-year tenor.

Another Bt 8 billion debentures were issued in May 2010.
