Thai Airways International has selected Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines to power its fleet of Boeing 787 twinjets.
The aero engine manufacturer confirmed the selection, part of a deal covering 20 aircraft.
Alongside the 787s Thai is taking 12 Airbus A350s, which are only available with Rolls-Royce Trent XWB powerplants.
"Our decision to add these extremely efficient Trent engines into our fleet demonstrates our continued commitment to achieve the highest standards of environmental performance across all our operations," said Thai president Piyasvasti Amranand.
Thai will become an operator of all the Trent-family engine variants as a result of the pact.
