Singapore-based low-cost carrier Tiger Airways plans to start flights to Trichy, a city in southern India, from 1 November.
It will operate between Singapore and Trichy four times a week, says the carrier. Tiger operates Airbus A320 aircraft.
"Tiruchirappalli, or Trichy, is not just a destination in its own right. It also serves the vast hinterland of south India, being centrally located in Tamil Nadu," says Tiger's Singapore managing director Rosalynn Tay.
Tiger will be the only carrier flying non-stop between Singapore and Trichy. Air India Express operates between the two cities via Chennai.
