TNT Airways, the airline subsidiary of logistics firm TNT Express, has signed a codeshare and blocked-space agreement with Emirates SkyCargo.

The Gulf cargo carrier will place its code and use space on TNT Airways's services on the New York JFK-Liege and Hong Kong-Dubai-Liege routes which it flies with Boeing 777 Freighters.

Last month, unveiling a €172 million ($226.5 million) pre-tax loss, TNT Express said it would seek a partner for its 777 services as it looked to cut costs and reduce empty capacity in its long-haul operation.

Frequencies on the routes will now be increased, with the Hong Kong-Dubai-Liege route raised from four to six times a week and the JKF-Liege route raised from four to five times a week.

TNT Airways operates three 777Fs on lease from Guggenheim Aviation Partners. It also has a pair of 747-400Fs which are up for sale.
