Japanese plastics manufacturer Toho Tenax has been awarded a contract to become a supplier for Bombardier's CSeries aircraft programme.

Its European arm, Toho Tenax Europe, will supply carbonfibre material for major primary and secondary composite structures on the CSeries aircraft.

The contract is expected to generate 130 million euros in revenue for the company over the next 10 years.

Toho Tenax's materials were chosen to support the program because the latest carbonfibre materials meet the aircraft's design requirements and support Bombardier's newly developed manufacturing processes.

The 100- to 149-seat class CSeries aircraft is likely to set a new benchmark in combining advanced materials and technology when it comes out in 2013.
