Tokyo Haneda airport posts net loss of Y2.61bn in FY2011

Tokyo Haneda airport recorded a net loss of Y2.61 billion ($33.1 million) in the fiscal year 2011, a reversal from a net profit of Y935 million posted the year before.

Operating revenue for the year to 31 March declined by 4% year on year to Y129 billion from Y135 billion, says Japan Airport Terminal, which owns and operates Haneda's domestic terminal and is a shareholder in its international terminal.

The airport's operating profit for FY2011 fell by 79.1% to Y877 million, from Y4.19 billion reported in FY2010.

The airport's cash and cash equivalents as of 31 March 2012 stood at Y20.8 billion, down from Y21.8 billion posted at the end of FY2010.

For FY2012, the airport expects to record a net income of Y1.4 billion and a 4.3% year-on-year growth in operating revenue to Y135 billion. Japan Airport Terminal forecasts its operating profits to quadruple to Y3.8 billion.
