Tokyo's Narita International Airport and Abu Dhabi Airports have signed an agreement to become sister airports.

Under the memorandum of understanding, the two airports will "create joint strategies for developing the routes linking the two airports, as well as promoting business development opportunities for the business communities in their respective markets", the airports say.

They will also share practices and expertise in the areas of airport operations, environment, ground transportation and logistics.

"The agreement will contribute to a dramatic increase in passenger and cargo traffic between Japan and the Middle East and improvements in the aviation network with the region," says Narita's president and CEO Kosaburo Morinaka.
