Mitsubishi Aircraft is confident it will complete a contract with US operator Trans States Holdings for up to 100 MRJ regional jets.
A firm order has not yet been signed by Trans States, Mitsubishi Aircraft executive vice president Junichi Miyakawa confirmed today during a press briefing at the Regional Airline Association (RAA) convention in Milwaukee.
"We are discussing a few details of the contract," he says, adding: "I am very confident about completion of a firm contract."
Trans States in October 2009 signed a letter of intent covering firm orders for 50 aircraft and a further 50 options.
Delivery dates have not been announced, and Trans States has not revealed if it will take the 92-seat MRJ90, the 78-seat MRJ70, or the proposed 100-seat stretched variant dubbed the MRJ100X. Miyakawa says he cannot disclose what the mix may be.
