Belize-based Tropic Air has added two new Cessna Caravan 208s to its operations, which will increase its fleet to 11 aircraft, including nine Cessnas.

The carrier stated each new 14-passenger aircraft features the G1000 glass cockpit, short takeoff and landing kit, weather radar and a terrain avoidance system.

Tropic Air has four additional Caravans on order with Cessna, "with two planned for delivery in each of the coming years", said the carrier.

The airline operates flights to 13 destinations in Belize and Guatemala, and in March plans to launch flights to Roatan and San Perdro, Sula in Honduras from Belize City.

In late 2010 Tropic Air told FlightglobalPro it had started the process to gain approval to launch flights to Honduras.

Tropic Air estimated it will transport more than 220,000 passengers this year.
