Turkish Airlines has ended talks over a possible acquisition of shares in Polish flag-carrier LOT.

According to information disclosed by Turkish Airlines the negoations, which started in January this year, ended because Turkish Airlines does not believe it can effectively manage the airline under European Union ownership restrictions.

These restrictions would limit the size of the shareholding that Turkish Airlines could take in LOT.

Turkish Airlines' board has decided to continue examining merger opportunities in other countries. It holds 49% of Bosnia's B&H Airlines.
