The Turkish air force could acquire a new batch of 30 Lockheed Martin F-16 fighters rather than launch a planned $500 million upgrade to another 48 of its McDonnell Douglas F-4Es, says Murad Bayar, head of Turkey’s defence industries undersecretariat. Ankara has already received 240 F-16s.
