Turkish Airlines' MRO division has agreed to take over Istanbul-based maintenance provider MNG Technic.
The companies started talks in February about a potential partnership or shareholding to increase Turkish Technic's maintenance capacity at Istanbul's Atatürk airport - deemed necessary due to its parent carrier's fleet growth.
Turkish Technic has now agreed to take over MNG Technic, according to information given to Istanbul's stock exchange, although the airline group did not reveal any details about the price.
MNG Technic is an independent MRO provider at Atatürk airport and the sister company of MNG Cargo Airlines, both of which are owned by MNG Holdings. It operates out of a 25,000m² (269,000ft²) hangar which it opened in late 2011.
Meanwhile Turkish Technic is building a second, large-scale MRO campus dubbed 'HABOM' at Istanbul's Sabiha Gökçen International airport.
