London Stansted Airport has received clearance to handle Airbus A380 and Boeing 747-8 aircraft.

The UK Civil Aviation Authority granted Stansted 'Code F' status after the airport demonstrated its ability to handle the types.

No airlines have yet indicated that they will fly the A380 to Stansted on a commercial basis, but Emirates has said it will use the airport as an alternate to Heathrow.
