Former UK Civil Aviation Authority safety chief David Chapman has been named as senior safety adviser to the United Arab Emirates' aviation regulator.

The General Civil Aviation Authority has restructured its safety and security division, separating the two functions, citing a need to ensure it retains control in the face of strong regional traffic growth.

Chapman, previously the group director of the CAA's Safety Regulation Group, is to support the development of air operations safety standards in the Gulf state.
