Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) and AeroSvit have entered into a codeshare agreement covering major domestic and international routes.

On 1 December, Ukraine's two largest carriers began codesharing on flights from Kiev to London, Tel Aviv, Almaty, Astana and Donetsk.

In addition, UIA has agreed with Dniproavia, which is a partner of the AeroSvit-led Ukraine Aviation Alliance, to jointly serve routes to Lviv, Simferopol, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk and Ivano-Frankovsk.

A UIA spokesman said these arrangements are designed to improve customer service and to benefit from increasing transit passenger flows through Kiev Borispol Airport.

In the first 11 months of this year, the combined traffic of Ukrainian carriers grew 23% to almost 7 million passengers, of which 3.9 million were flown on international scheduled services, up 43% from 2010.
