Ukraine International Airlines has launched scheduled flights to Bangkok in its first venture into the long-haul segment.
The carrier began three weekly services between Kiev and Bangkok on 7 December. It is deploying a refurbished ex-AeroSvit Boeing 767-300ER on the route.
“This marks the beginning of an era of long-haul flights in our history,” says the airline. Previously, its two longest routes were to Almaty and Dubai.
Earlier this year Ukraine International applied for flying rights to the USA and Canada with a view to launching North American services in mid-2014.
Pending the 767 fleet expansion, its planned long-haul destinations also include Beijing and the Dominican Republic.
