United Airlines' first Boeing 787-8 completed its first flight on 19 August.
The aircraft (N20904) flew for more than three hours under the control of Boeing pilots in and around Seattle, Washington, according to the airline. Tests were conducted on the avionics, communication, navigation, onboard, pressurisation and safety systems during the flight.
Boeing says that there is typically one Boeing test flight and one customer test flight before an aircraft is delivered but that the number can vary depending on the results of the tests.
United is the US launch customer of the 787 and anticipates that it will take delivery of the aircraft by the end of September.
