United Airlines will launch new nonstop service to South Bend, Indiana, from Newark Liberty International airport in October.
The once daily flight will be flown on a 50-seat Embraer ERJ145 from 26 October, according to South Bend Regional airport. It will complement the Chicago-based Star Alliance carrier’s existing service to Chicago O’Hare International airport.
“New York City is the number one demanded unserved market for the Michiana community until today,” says Mike Daigle, executive director of the South Bend airport, in a statement. “This announcement has been two years in the making and I’m thrilled to expand our domestic air service and increase access to and from SBN to benefit the citizens of our community.”
United announced that it would add twice-daily Newark-London, Ontario, flights earlier in July.
No other airlines fly to the New York area from South Bend, Innovata schedules show.
