United Airlines flight attendants represented by the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) have ratified a contract covering 15,000 flight attendants.

About 88.5% of the flight attendants participated in the vote and 70.4% cast their ballots in favour of the agreement, which was reached on 7 January,

The ratified contract includes work life enhancements, new job security protections, scheduling and compensation improvements, including a 10% wage increase and a $5,000 signing bonus, said AFA.

The union will next move into talks for a single contract by summer, as United and Continental Airlines complete a merger.
