United Airlines has notified the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) regarding an overrun of an ExpressJet Embraer ERJ-145 at Akron-Canton airport in Ohio.

The aircraft exited the side runway after landing on a flight from Chicago O'Hare International airport at 00:12 local time on 18 March. All 44 passengers and two crew members were evacuated safely.

A spokesman for ExpressJet's parent company Atlantic Southeast Airlines says the NTSB has been notified and the board plans to investigate the incident. He states weather conditions at the time were clear.
