United-Continental is introducing seasonal flights from its Newark Liberty hub to Nantucket beginning 14 June.

Partner carrier CommutAir is operating the flights with 37 and 50-seat Bombardier Dash 8 200/300 turboprops.

United-Continental is competing with JetBlue on flights from the New York metropolitan area to Nantucket. JetBlue has been offering seasonal flights from John F Kennedy International airport to Nantucket since 2007, and recently announced new seasonal Boston-Nantucket service starting in May.

CommutAir began flying out of Continental's Newark hub in 2008 after primarily operating flights on behalf of its major partner from Cleveland.

United-Continental also recently announced additions to its international network with the planned launch of new flights from Newark to Istanbul beginning in July.
