United Airlines will launch flights between Ft. Lauderdale and San Francisco from 2 March 2013.
The service will operate Saturday-only from 2 March through 8 April and daily from 9 April on a Boeing 737-800, according to the Chicago-based Star Alliance carrier.
"South Florida is the largest region in the country not currently served by United from San Francisco," says Jim Ferea, managing director of domestic planning at United, in a statement. "We're pleased to link these two areas that are important to both business and leisure travellers."
JetBlue Airways and Virgin America fly nonstop between Ft. Lauderdale and San Francisco, according to Innovata schedules.
