Star Alliance carrier United Airlines will start Newark-Istanbul Ataturk flights on 2 July 2012.
According to holding company United-Continental, the daily flights will be made by Boeing 767-300ERs. The aircraft have 30 business-class, 46 economy-plus and 138 economy seats.
"Istanbul flights will add more connection to the region. Turkish passengers will get connections from our Newark base," said United-Continental vice-president Jim Compton.
Fellow Star carrier Turkish Airlines is increasing its New York JFK flights from Istanbul from 27 March.
