United unit revenue down 1% in April

United Airlines saw passenger revenue per available seat mile (PRASM) decrease by 1% during April compared to a year earlier, joining Delta Air Lines and US Airways in reporting unit revenue declines.

Consolidated traffic fell 3.8% and capacity fell 2.6% during April, which resulted in a one percentage point decrease in load factor to 81.7%.

Domestic traffic and capacity were down 5.7% and 4.9%, respectively, resulting in a 0.7 percentage point decrease in load factor to 85.1%.

International traffic fell 3.2% and capacity fell 1.1%, which resulted in a 1.8 percentage point decrease in load factor to 78.6%.
